I have a question concerning Microsoft Visio 2007 Professional Version, I have recently installed this product and was able to make edits to Visio files which were being sent to me through email. I was doing this today and was trying to access files I had saved to a designated folder. For some reason I was not able to find the files I had saved so I had to access the files throgh the File option on the Visio program.
Now it has gotten to the point to where I can not make any edits at all. I'm trying to get some answers to why the program is not responding as earlier and would I just need to reinstall the program? Any help would be beneficial, thanks. I think we need some more information to give you any advice.
Are you able to launch Visio, but can't edit the drawings? Or does Visio fail to start properly?
If Visio starts up okay, but you can't edit files, what kinds of errors do you get? If Visio starts, but you are limited to certain functionality, you may need to Active the product. Go to the Help menu, and click 'Activate Product.' If you have already activated, you'll see a messages 'This product has already been activated'. If you haven't previously activated, then you will be walked through a wizard to activate your license. You can read more about activation here: If Visio opens, and you can edit new drawings, but have problems with existing drawings that are stored on a network location, try saving them locally and see if that helps. If those ideas don't help, let us know what errors you get, if any.

Hi, Based on your description, after upgrading to Windows 10, Visio takes up a lot of memory and crash. In my opinion, please try to confirm if it will work fine in safe mode. If it works fine in safe mode, please check the add-ins in your excel and disable them. You can try to repair Visio in your environment, please refer to this support article to repair Office: Then please make sure you have installed the latest updates for Windows and Visio. Any updates please let me know, I'm glad to help you. Regards, Emi.
Hello Emi, Thank you sincerely for your help. I have found the culprit, the interfering gremlin, but I don't know the 'why' part, ie. What is going on that causes the conflict and misbehaviour. All updates are installed.
I booted into Safe Mode, and the problem DID NOT occur. I was able to open and use Visio without issue. I restarted in Normal Mode, opened Visio, and the program proceeded to freeze, became basically unresponsive. I killed the pgm in Task Mgr, then ran the Properties - Compatibility Troubleshooter, but this was not helpful. I again went into properties and this time simply checked 'Run this program in compatibility with Windows 8', but this also was not helpful.
At lease not by itself. While Visio was misbehaving, I noticed in the Task Manager - Processes window that when I sorted by CPU usage, the top three processes were: Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel service (30-35%), Microsoft Office Visio (20-30%), System and Compressed Memory service (15-20%). I used 'end task' to kill both Visio -AND- the Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel service, then restarted Visio, and all is beautiful. No more freezing, no horrible memory problem.
Memory usage for Visio while performing a normal drawing test (bezier curve) was less than 2%, and the Sys & Compressed Memory service barely budged. What is it about the Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel service that doesn't like Visio 2007 Professional? Please let me know. I will point out that 'Run this program in compatibility with Windows 8' is still checked, but I don't know whether this has any effect, good or otherwise.
Meanwhile, I'm going to set the Touch Kbd service to Manual and hope that not having it Automatic won't pose any other problems -AND- that I am able to run Visio without issue as I have always done. Again, thank you.
